Position: Executive Director, Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area
President and CEO, EarthShare
Supervise: Deputy Director; Campaign Ambassador; staff of three Associate Directors; and three Administrative Assistants.
Summary of Duties: Responsible for day to day management and administration of the CFCNCA, including supervision of staff and loaned executives, in order to achieve campaign objectives to increase pledges, participation and average gifts.
Duties include: Overseeing office administration; meeting regulatory requirements; supervising staff; design and implementation of strategies, serving as public liaison for the campaign, training and recruitment of campaign volunteers and leadership, development and management of campaign events and activities.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively and constructively with others to encourage active participation and coordinate goals and activities; communicate clearly; work with staff to understand their ideas and concerns; and provide constructive feedback as needed. The candidate is also comfortable with public speaking and fund raising, and has either had federal civilian or military experience or prior experience with the CFC or similar federated giving campaigns in the public sector.
Specific duties include (but are not limited to):
a. Supervise the Deputy Director and Campaign Ambassador to plan and carry out all campaign activities.
b. Oversee the development of all campaign materials.
c. Supervise the recruitment of loaned executives, campaign managers and keyworkers.
d. Design, implement and evaluate training programs for campaigns workers and staff members.
B. Charity Applications
a. Supervise charity application process including preparation of applications for review by LFCC members.
b. Communicate any changes in the application process to prospective applicants.
c. Supervise transfer of approved charity database into OPM charity registry, e-giving systems, web site and printed catalog.
C. Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC)
a. Responsible for assisting the LFCC and its committees in all its functions including orientation, recruitment, communications, and committee work.
b. Coordinate all communications to LFCC and serve as staff liaison.
c. Assist the Chair in the development of LFCC meeting agendas.
d. Prepare chair to conduct orientation sessions for new LFCC members as needed.
e. Help identify potential new LFCC members for the committee to recruit.
D. Participating Organizations
a. Responsible for communication of campaign activities to eligible charities.
b. Respond to inquiries of prospective new participating charities.
c. Keep applicant organizations informed of their status and facilitate their review of public materials as required by regulations.
E. Marketing and Public Relations
a. Serve as spokesperson for public relations and/or prepare the campaign chair for interviews as needed.
b. Work with staff to develop marketing strategies and implementation.
F. Administration and Personnel
a. Responsible for overseeing day to day operations with the Deputy Director.
b. Supervise all full time, part time and contract personnel in accordance with the Personnel Policies.
c. Develop, implement and evaluate the annual operating plan.
d. Prepare regular operations reports, and six-month operations and budget reviews with recommendations for any necessary adjustments.
G. Campaign Plan
a. Implement campaign plan according to regulatory deadlines and within the budget in order to meet all goals.
b. Evaluate activities in order to make improvements in future campaigns based upon customer feedback, best practices, and donor input.
